Bladder Retention 48hrs after delivery - still in hospital, some good news needed!

Just had dd1 by emergency c section two days ago after slowly progressing labour for three days. Had the standard catheter in for 12 hours, they removed it later than expected (after about 15 hours) but i havent been able to wee. They emptied my bladder last night and have put the catheter in again to retry later this afternoon.
I am terrified i will not be able to wee again, can anyone offer any advice? I really want to go home but they wont let me until i can wee by myself.
Was in hospital with retentive bladder following a kidney infection last summer, but when they allowed me home i was able to wee again in the comfort of my own surroundings. Worried this time may be permanent tho!
Help!

I had this both times.

The first time it took 5 days for me to be able to pee again well enough to be allowed to leave hospital and the second time it only took 2 days. The second time I brought a book with me so I could sit on the loo and not think about needing to pee so was more relaxed. Peeing was a struggle for a few weeks after each birth.

On the plus side I've never had an accident with random peeing even on a trampoline.

Thanks Congratulations on the arrival of DD1 and I hope you get home soon.

This happened to me, in the end I was sent home with the catheter bag. I asked for precautionary antibiotics. I was referred to a special clinic but by the time I attended, things were getting back to normal.

Ok, will continue to think positive. Have had catheter out 2 hours but no joy yet. Will keep trying!

Ok, quick update. I did a wee! Yeah, officially out of retention, thanks for the support lunchbox and drownedgirl xx
Took a lot of concentration and a few warm showers, but in the end the midwives took baby for me for a short while and i managed to relax enough. So releived, was all a state of mind!
