39+1 brown stringy discharge

Hi. Had an internal exam yesterday to check cervix which was posterior and possibly just 0.5 cm dialated.
Started getting some brown and pink spotting afterwards when I wiped which I put down to the exam. This morning however it has turned into brown stringy mucous discharge. Could this be the "bloody show"? Could the exam have triggered it a bit like a sweep might? Or do you think it's just a reaction to cervix irritation and not necessarily a show.
Feeling a bit crampy. Would appreciate any thoughts. Thanks.

Waiting for the show can get obsessive can't it! If there's pink in there this Could be a show, however (sorry for tmi) if you've had sex in the last two days, the sperm can look stringey and dark brown. A bloody show to me looked more jelly like.

39+4 now and no sign of baby coming soon. Starting to think was just a bit of my plug coming away made a bit bloody by internal exam. Bugger. Think if it was proper bloody show things would likely have kicked off by now. Hadn't had sex before but out of desperation have done since!
Yes, whatabeautifulsight10, waiting for signs becomes obsessive. Got to stop thinking about it (all the time) and adopt a more zen approach.

I became a mad woman analysing every twinge, and because of this, when I actually was in labour, I was in denial for hours. My show was actually 3 hours after contractions started, so don't take seeing this as proof you're in labour, or you might struggle to get to the hospital before things kick up a notch!

Sniffing Clary sage worked for me, but only after a sweep!

Good luck being zen, get as much rest as you can, your baby is just comfortable in there. (I wanted to punch people who said this to me) along with 'babies come when ready' :@

I should be careful what I wish for as appear to have been struck down with Noro Virus or similar in the night. Been sick 7 times since 3am and feel absolutely dreadful. My daughter had it earlier in the week and bounced back after 48 hours. Crossing fingers this will be a 24 hour jobby.
Am worrying about implications for baby of course. Can't keep water down. He'll be ok wont he?
So scared of going into labour now! Don't think my body could cope with it.

I would speak to your midwife about the virus, just to be safe. It's horrible luck.. Just keep cleaning hands and toilets and sleep if possible (easier said than done with a large bump).

I'm sure everything will be fine, if you were to go into labour, your body would cope, because really, it has to! I would contact triage/ midwife though, but as long as your baby is still wriggling away, I think it's just you who will feel sick and miserable. Chocolate helps any situation I find, if you can stomach it!

I had noro at 30 weeks with DS2 and had to be admitted to hospital as I was so dehydrated.

Are you able to keep down fluids, gatorade or similar? The most important thing is that you stay hydrated and keep fluid levels stable in the womb and yourself. If you start to have contractions, get yourself to hospital as soon as you can so they can put you on a drip to rehydrate you - my DS went into distress due to our dehydration but I had vomited 20 times since 6am and couldn't keep any fluids down. By 8pm that night I was having contractions every 3 minutes. Went to hospital and my OBGYN put baby on a trace. He was in serious distress and almost had to come out there and then.

Thankfully we both responded to anti contraction meds, steroids etc and DS2 arrived at 38 weeks no worries whatsoever but just in case labour does kick off for you, make sure to explain that you've been continuously vomiting. I would imagine with baby being so close to due date that he/she is safer to come out now.
