VBAC Late Pregnancy scar scanning

Hi - has anyone had this done? Can anyone suggest who might be prepared to do it or where?

In the likelihood that you have no idea what I am talking about I am attempting a VBAC and there has been some significant research done on the thickness of your CS scar from 36weeks onwards. In fact in some countries they offer this scan to women planning VBAC so that they know more about the risk of scar rupture. I would happily pay to have this done privately but it takes someone with a bit of skill and knowledge about uteturi (uterus'?) rather than baby's sex/heartbeat/position pretty picture taking, which most private sonographers specialise in. Also this type of scan needs to be transvaginal .

Also if you're planning a VBAC this www.birthrites.org/uterinerupt.html bit where it says "What Can Be Done to Reduce the Risk of Rupture?" has a list of risks for all births that really put rupture into context for me. HTH

I mentioned this to my superintendent of MW and she was over the moon that I knew stuff, got her on board with my intention to HBAC, so I recommend mentioning it if you want to come across as informed, and researching it if you're just into that sort of thing!

I've just had a VBAC. At no time was a scan for thickness if scar ever mentioned. I think I read somewhere that this is more standard in the US rather than the UK.

I'm a member of a closed Facebook group called VBAC Support Group UK - there's lots of knowledgable people on there. If you're on Facebook, it might be worth joining.

Thanks theborrower, I will join and ask there :) I don't know about the US but I read in that first link that Switzerland are very pro it. I can imagine certain US OBGYN's would be though since it would circumvent malpractice suits when they're all too scared to do a vbac without being sued!
