Why does my cervix seem low?

I'm 37 weeks. The other day, out of complete curiosity I had a little inspection 'up there.' And very quickly I felt I touched my cervix which seems very very low down inside me. I was so shocked I whipped my hand back lol. I have been told the baby's head is totally engaged - is this why my cervix feels like it is almost coming out?!!!

Yes. Dont be suprised if you go into labour soon. Then again it might not happen soon, but all the midwives have told me when it starts to get low it starts to soften and your body is preparing for labour. Especially as baby is fully engaged. When i was induced two weeks ago, mine was posterior but not high and i was already 1cm dilated and baby was 3/5ths engaged. The midwife said babys head was very low though and she could feel it. Just dont do it again lol it encourages infection up there and thats the last thing you need chuck x
