Ive had contractions every 4 minutes or so and they are quite uncomfortable. But they dont seem to be getting worse, as in more painful. This is my second pregnancy and with the first thing Got painful much faster. They do feel like Real contractions but im confused. Any ideas? Last time i just knew now im in doubt

Sounds like labour to me! My contractions started suddenly and continued at the same level of bloody-uncomfortable-but-not-unbearable level of pain throughout. Congratulations, and good luck!

Dovahkiin · 03/07/2014 03:12

4 minutes is quite close. Have you called the midwife?

030213babytime · 03/07/2014 03:14

Thanks dovahkiin. :) how did you know when to go into hospital?

Call the delivery suit and let them know how regular but also how long contractions are lasting- they will let you know when to go in!

Dovahkiin · 03/07/2014 03:18

I was a bloody amateur and probably went in too late - I was 8cm when I got to hospital. My concern wasn't about the pain level but that the contractions flitted between 2, 4 and 6 minutes and I'd read they had to be 'regular.' That said, I was in Asia so no option of calling the delivery suite for advice.

No i havent Called the midwife yet because it doesnt feel painful enough yet i Can happily talk through the contractions. I have a daughter that Would news to ho go her grandprents and Then a 30minutes drive to the hospital. I dont want to waste anyones time. I want to be sure its the Real thing /)

Please call! They'll be able to advise better than some sleep-deprived mumsnetters. And don't worry about wasting anyone's time. You and your baby are the most important thing.

Mummymidwife87 · 03/07/2014 07:49

I would say of you can talk through them its probably not active labour.
Go up and down staira a few times, nipple stimulation and see of they crank up a notch.
Does sound like things are starting to happen

Sounds as though I could have written this myself as this also happened to me early hours of this morning. Had contractions from 2am-5am! Coming every 6 mins lasting for roughly 2 minutes. Took co-codamol which did take the edge off the pain but still felt very uncomfortable! Didn't know what to do as like you my little boy would need to stay with grandparents. Hope you manage to get some rest! When are you due?

030213babytime · 04/07/2014 21:22

I had the same experience 2weeks ago..still no baby yet Sad now 39 weeks. ..

LouisaJF · 05/07/2014 06:17

I hd something similar with DS2, I was convinced it was labour. It all stopped and he arrived 3 weeks later.

prawnsmummy · 05/07/2014 10:17

I'm due on Monday so I'm 39+5. It really is frustrating to have pains and then nothing to materialise from them! Also trying my hardest to get the consultants to consider an induction as I've got SPD and a bone condition. Can't walk, dress myself or get in bath by myself due to the pain Hmm. Hope things get moving for you soon though! Let us know when your bundle of joy arrives!
