Fecal Urge Incontinence

Hi there, I'm currently pregnant with my second, due in 11 weeks. with my first, 17 mo ago, I had a forceps delivery with episiotomy, and a borderline 3rd degree tear. I suffered with urge incontinence for about 8 weeks following her birth. Is that normal? Also, is there a chance it could happen again, and possibly worse? I am still suffering with pain where they stitched me last time, difficult to walk long distances and sitting is quite uncomfortable too. Midwife seems to think that everything will be just fine! Need some advice x

You should be seeing a consultant and someone in urogynae, and possibly offered an endoanal scan to check everything is back to normal. They will advise whether a vaginal birth is suitable.
If you have had a 3rd degree tear before you do have an increased risk of reoccurring, but forceps and episiotomies are two of the biggest risk factors for 3rd degree tears. It's not impossible, but unlikely that would happen with a 2nd baby

IMO you need to request an appointment to see your consultant ASAP. You are still having symptoms from your previous birth injury. Elective cesarean is something he/she should be exploring with you. It's not the only option but the Mw is denying you that choice by saying all will be fine ... When your injuries haven't even been assessed.

I had a similar experience, several MW not interested at all in my previous birth injuries, saying it would be ok but I asked for a consultant appointment fairly early in preg to discuss my concerns ... I was booked for an elective right there and then, based on my history!
