Does initial labour signs first time found have bearing on the next?

Not sure if my title makes any sense it's 11pm and I'm dropping off to sleep lol.

Basically with DS1 my waters broke first and contractions started 20 hours later.
Just wondering if this has any bearing on how my body will do it this time round?
I'd really like a water breaking warning as DP works/lives away Monday - Friday, and is 2 1/2 hours away, I also labour quickly so this would give him chance to get home and get ready.

What are your experiences / similarities / differences between DC1 and subsequent children?

Thank you

Mine were exactly the same! But I thought I was being daft so ignored all the signs, and, well like I said... Exactly the same!
Hope it happens the way you want!

1st - waters broke first. Labour started an hour later and baby was born within a few hours of that.

2nd and 3rd labours - began with niggly contractions that increased in strength during the afternoon. Then waters broke and babies were born within couple of hours of that. 2nd and 3rd were both born at home exactly 3yrs and 1 day apart.

1st - waters broke, but no contractions. I was induced (as had positive strep B test).

2nd - back pain before bedtime. Woke up in the morning with very mild contractions, but fairly close together. Then they got stronger, straight to hospital, baby born 4 hours later. I didn't notice my waters breaking, I guess it happened in labour.

So, totally different.

^^ no "show" for either.

My waters broke out of the blue with dd and ds. Labours identical too.

BackforGood · 21/06/2014 23:25

No - mine were completely different.

dc1 - painful cramps from the first one
dc2 - just a general feeling of being a bit uncomfortable, which occurred to be after an hour had been coming and going at pretty regular intervals
dc3 - water broke (but not dramatically - just got up to go for a wee in the night, so I thought.

All my three were the same.

All my labours started with mild contractions which gradually got stronger, and in each case my waters went just before the baby was born.

The only difference was that each labour was about twice as quick as the previous one.

Youdontneedacriminallawyer · 21/06/2014 23:51

Mine were both very different too.

vvviola · 21/06/2014 23:56

Totally different here.

1st: waters broke. Contractions started within an hour.
2nd: went to routine hospital appointment to be told I was already 5cm dilated. No major contractions until they broke my waters at 8cm. DD2 born within an hour. Had I not been at the appointment when I was, it's very likely she would have been born very quickly and surprisingly at home!

HuggleBuggleBear · 22/06/2014 00:03

1st waters went and then induced as labour didn't start
2nd started with contractions 7 minutes apart in the early hours. Waters broke at 10cm.

Labours very different nearly didn't get to hospital in time 2nd time.

DS1 - 30 odd hrs, text book arc of surges until 17min stage 2

DS2 - 90 mins with 16min stage 2. Surges had started about 24hrsbefore, but mild and miles apart. More like random Braxton hicks.

So totally different!

Mine were opposite starts... Dd I woke up with contractions at 3am, laboured at home til 6.30 went in, everything stopped, came home, went neatly straight back, she was born about 3 hours later.

Ds - mild tightenings I thought was bh, waters went so they asked me to go in - to my amazement I was 6cm. Had no plans to go in if it wasn't for my waters breaking. People say u know when you're in labour but despite it being my second, I didn't!

Mumof3xox · 22/06/2014 20:41

No waters breaking here and no shows - with any of 3 babies

Dc 1&2 a week of slow labour then 12 hours established

Dc3 out 5 hours after first twinge

yongnian · 22/06/2014 20:46

My two could not have been more different.

DefiniteMaybe · 22/06/2014 20:52

My first I had backache at home, had a bleed so went tohospital my waters went when I got there and ds was born 50mins later.
My second my waters went with a huge bang at 3am, had no contractions, wasn't dilated at all at 11am when I went for monitoring. Got home, started having contractions at 1ish left for the hospital at 3.30, dd was born at 4. So totally different for me
