ouch -stitches

Gave birth on Fri and had two cuts and a tear. Stitches are so sore today! Have got antibiotics but wondered if anyone had any magic tips to promote healing down below?!

Witch Hazel soaked pads. No, really, it helps! Also the big mattress maternity pads and try to recline rather than sit up straight. And don't go for a walk with jeans on. all lessons I learned the hard way

Can defo recommend really thick pads, it's helped me feel much more supported and less 'heavy'.

Also drink loads of water because it makes going to the toilet less stingy.

And just make sure your doing the usual keeping them dry and clean. And take regular painkillers for the first week.

Second witch hazel soaked pads, even better if the witch hazel has been kept in the fridge. Did that with both babies even though I didn't need tear or need stitches the second time.

Also helpful for peeing (in case you're terrified like I was the first time!) is to sit on the loo, bend forward and put both your palms flat on the floor. Bending that far forward helps direct urine away from your stitches.

If it's stingy when you pee do it in the shower or pour a jug of water down there whilst peeing.

Warm bath with lavender and tea tree oils added. Good drugs. Rest!

Good advice above! Also...possibly tmi but the antibiotics might have a side effect that will make the first poo easier if you've not already crossed that "heaven help us I'm having another baby" bridge

I agree with all above, definitely the water being used when having a wee! hope it quickly heals, i remember how sore it can be. On a positive note don't worry if u have another that you'll definitely tear again because I only tore with my first. Congrats on baby x

Bath once or twice a day with tea tree oil.
Lie down with legs apart for 10mins after washing to allow air drying.

Put a few drops of cows milk in your hand and add 6-10 drops of lavender essential oil. Add to your bath and bath daily. Will help healing. Also try to spend an hour or so a day wafting around the house with your fanny out! The fresh air in the area will help too!

I also found it v helpful to pour water over my bits whilst I was weeing. Just a normal Buxton water bottle did the job for me!

Durex Aloe Vera lube. Keep it in the fridge. Designed for the area, soothing and cooling.

Get the hairdryer on them after a bath. Not the prettiest sight but it helps. Congratulations.

Arnica gel, not cream for bruising.

Tea tree oil - a couple of drops on massive tena lady pads. Plus a drop or two in warm water to pour on you when you wee.
