Can you eat smoked salmon?

I'm 40 weeks plus 2 days and have avoided smoked salmon so far because I have read some things saying that it is perfectly safe and others that it isn't safe. I really fancy some. Does anyone know?

I heard that hot smoked salmon is fine but cold smoked salmon is the one that's potentially risky.

That may or may not be true!

The chances of getting anything bad are really small, but there is a chance.

I guess it depends how risk- averse you are. Can you really not wait a few more days?

I know, I hope it is only a few more days! I just really fancy some but yes I can wait. Hope I still fancy it then.

I've eaten smoked salmon. NHS says it's safe www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pages/foods-to-avoid-pregnant.aspx

Yep NHS says safe...

No reason to avoid!

I also ate supermarket sushi that had been previously frozen and Stilton. But not necessarily at the same time. The rules had changed between my 1st and 2nd pgs, was glad I checked the nhs website or I would have missed out!

As long as it's from reputable place and well in date. My Canadian friend was horrified I ate it while pregnant I hadn't even realised it was an issue.

It's fine. Eat it if you want to.
