Bleeding following internal? Show?

Had an internal at the labour ward last night following several hours of contractions. Only 1 piddly centimetre dilated so came home and contractions stopped. Aaaargh!

Have had a fair bit of bleeding today when I go to the loo. Sorry, TMI, but fresh bright blood when I wipe.

Is this normal? Any predictions? Is labour immanent?

Not sure if that sounds like a show mine was more of a jelly bood clear with pink in it, i think if i was you i would call the labour ward & let them know what is now happening after your visit.

tassis - it is fairly normanl to have a small amount of fresh staining after an internal, however it should not continue for a long time or become heavy. Show usually is a bit sticky in comsistency. Blood like a period is not normal. You said it is only when you wipe yourself so that should be OK but if you are concerned phone the hospital back. HTH.

ooh my show was clear as well, the fresh blood bit for me was like a real heavy period and bright red, rang hte ward and was told to go straight in and was 2/3cm - apparently the blood was from the cervix dilating so quickly - from 0 to 3 in an hour and half.

I'm 37+3 and the contractions last night were 3/4 in 10 mins and pretty sore for 4 hours. Midwife was certainly happy for me to stay in and reckoned it was going to pick up overnight. It hasn't but at least we got some rest.

had exactly the same thing. went into hosp but was only 1/2 cm (after a whole weekend of contractions and went home but had bright red blood when i wiped all night long. wasn't bleeding as such but there was air bit of it.

when i went in the next day and was still only 3cm they broke my waters for me and they were bloody so had to be monitored and towards the end dd's heartrate dropped to practically nothing. turned out the cord was around her shoulder she was ok in the end but i had a pph and had to be put on a drip to try and stop it. i'm not sure if the bleeding and the cord thing were related or 2 separate probs but keep an eye on it to be safe.

Unfortunately I cannot tell. You might be find contractions don't start again for days or even weeks. Try resting up today. If it is going to happen, it will happen
