Sex after 3rd degree tear

So i gave birth 5 months ago (yes its been 5 months) and had a third degree tear. We have only had sex once since (about a week ago) and it was really painful.
It took a while to start thinking about sex as I bled for a long time (3 months) and then the little one wasn't sleeping and i just couldn't get my head around having sex in the bed next to her.
Anyway after finally getting her to sleep we went into our spare room and we used plenty of lubrication and had foreplay but it was soooooo tight. We could only get the very tip inside and even that was uncomfortable.

I had issues before we started trying for a baby (due to depression) and that made sex very painful and i would often bleed. I was checked at docs and all was ok but now i feel like we have taken a step back as when we started ttc we managed to sort it all out.
Any advice on what we can do or how long until i stretch out a bit. I was really hoping pushing a child out would have made the area a bit looser so sex would be easy lol.
Its so tough to get time to have sex these days and this "tightness" just seems like another obstacle.

I don't have personal experience but might be worth speaking to your doctor, could they possibly have stitched you up a bit tight? Could it also be a psychological thing? I suffered pain during sex before having a baby & that was put down to the stress of worrying about it hurting.

have you had a lot of stitching? The scar tissue could be tight and it is difficult for it to stretch. I'd see your gp just to double check everything is ok

I had 3rd degree tear after having my DD 10 months ago. We waited until after my 12 weeks check with specialist midwife to make sure everything looked like it was healed/healing.

I won't lie, it was painful for the first few months, especially with that tightening feeling you're describing. But it does get better! We only DTD once or twice a week but eventually it just started to feel uncomfortable rather than painful.

10 months on and it's nearly feeling like normal! I know it hurts right now but the more you do it the better it will get.
