I'm new to this site but was really lookin for some advice from other mums. I'm 23 and a FTM, my baby girl is now 5 month old. From giving birth I had a 2nd degree tear and quite a few stitches. The midwife said she had left a bit if skin, that I would be able to feel it but it would go away by itself. Anyway after 3 months it was still there and I was very aware of how obvious it was, so wouldn't let my partner near am because I now looked so different 'down there.' Anyway I went to my GP, who referred me to a Gynacologist, who booked me in for an operation to remove it. It's now 1 week since my surgery and although I'm still sore I managed to have a look today to see how things were doing.. Now this is TMI but there is now some sort of big, dark, black ball of skin, least I think that's what it is.. It looks awful and is almost big enough to cover my vagina opening!! I'm so worried now that the surgery has gone wrong and I'm going to have to go through it all again as it now looks worse then before.. I don't know if maybe it's just a really bad bit of swelling and bruising?! Has anyone gone through anything like this.. I would really love some support!!

Oh dear, you poor thing. I had a second degree tear and stitching too so I know how uncomfortable that can be. It sounds like a sort of 'scab' to me, which would indicate that it is healing. You are only a week after surgery so it is early days yet. Perhaps it would be an idea to get the gp or the practice nurse to take a look to set your mind at rest?
