Sorry if tmi but Omg I've just cried my eyes out trying to go following c section last week, piles and a load of iron tablets since.

My fluid/fruit/veg intake has been really good but nothing prepared me for that pain!

Can anyone recommend a good laxative please?

Completely empathise - I'm in the same situation! I was given lactulose to take home from the hospital, may be worth asking GP for some? I took the lowest dose and it seemed to get things moving. I have a bottle on hand to take the odd dose when needed to counteract iron tablets. Hope it manages to ease for you soon, the pain is excruciating isn't it?

Thank you, I'll try that. I'm absolutely terrified of needing to go again!

She's so worth it but jeez I had less painful contractions.

syrup of figs and flax seeds and gallons of water. A warm bath and it'll ease its way out. Wink

you can get syrup of figs from Boots

I had lactulose and fybogel prescribed after my birth (3rd degree tear) and also scoffed lots of grapes and kiwi fruits!

Despite having had a poo before I left, the hospital prescribed me stool softeners. Foolishly I took a few, as directed. My advice? Don't stray too far from the toilet because when it's time to go you'd better get there fast!

Hi, I had a c-section 8 days ago and had my first poo on day 6 after getting dh to pick up lactulose and fybogel from boots. Jeez, it was like a celebratory event in itself. It took about 40 minutes as it had all compacted so even though the stool softener a helped it still needed a helping hand to come out ifyswim. Wwww but what a great feeling. My dh kept shouting upstairs to see if I was ok such we're the moans, groans and nnnnngggggggs coming from the bathroom! Sorry, that is way tmi but it will happen with a little help and will be such a relief when it does!

Fybrogel is a good option as it isn't meant to bloat as much as lactulose which can be a bit more comfortable post c-section

swamps that did make me smile!

Thanks all, I got some lactulose last night and an hour later result....good job I didn't go far moose!

Just posted this on another third. When trying to go, hold a pad against your perineum.

I got some stuff from the docs as well on prescription.

8 weeks on and I'm still not back to my usual movements :(
