After Birth care and blood loss

Looking for some advice about blood loss after labour. I had an episiotomy during labour however my stitches seem ok. I'm not sure if my blood loss is normal. I'm 12 days past the birth date and my blood loss keeps changing. It had almost stopped completely however the last few days it's started to increase again. I haven't had any massive blood clots and it isn't filling a sanitary pad in an hour but it does seem to be increasing slightly and I have been slightly light headed.
Do you think I need to get it checked out? I was signed off by the midwives a few days ago so feel silly ringing up again if it's normal. Thanks.

Have you been up and about doing more stuff than before? I found that made it increase.

If you are BF and DC has a mammoth feeding session or cluster feed - I find that can increase the blood loss.

Just noticed the lightheaded ness - ring your MW - that's what they are there for. I don't think it's anything to worry about but a phone call won't hurt.

I thought I might have been overdoing it yesterday as I was feeling really knackered. However the loss has continued through the night and this morning and I've barely done anything. I am breastfeeding quite regularly though.

Mine was really stop/start until 4 weeks when it really slowed down. As others have said it is quite common for it to suddenly increase if you have been up and about more.

Did you lose a lot of blood during birth? I just wondered because I did, and then kept passing out afterwards, due to anaemia. I had to have a transfusion in the end.
Your blood loss post birth seems quite normal - mine lasted for nearly 8 weeks with both DCs, and was heavy-ish for most of the time. I would ring the midwife or try and get to see the GP.

Mine was fairly heavy for almost 10 weeks. Its worth speaking with your mw as they might just check your iron levels if you are losing a lot.

Thanks for the advise. Couldn't get hold of the midwives the other day but luckily the loss went back down again after some rest! It's just annoying how you think it's nearly finished and then it starts up again. I suffered from low iron before the birth with light headed and low energy so I was thinking it could be related to that to! Thanks again :-) it's nice to know others have been I'm the same boat!
