Birth Pool for LTH. Cooee! Over here!

Birth pool - well, I decided (in my infinite wisdom) to set it up when I was awake in the night with first twinges and when I knew this was It. Inflated it really quickly in the kitchen with an electric pump because the kitchen was furthest away from everyone. Then manhandled it into the playroom (long story of manhandling it over sofas etc) It didn't take too long to fill actually although I can;t remember exactly! We have a Combi boiler so permanent hot water. We half filled it early on and put the bubbblewrap cover on and the topped it up when I would be getting in. Kept the cover half on whilst I was in it to retain heat and kept topping it up as necessary.

Emptying it was done whilst I was being stitched and apparently I owe my mum big time for that! We (or rather she) just left it syphoning out with a hosepipe down an outside drain. Last remnants were bundled up in the liner which was shoved in a binbag in the wheelie bin. It was not (apparently) a pretty job We could leave it syphoning out because the room could be shut out. If you need to get the pool drained and packed away I'd recommend hiring the pump from BPIAB (which is the pool I've got. Has a fresh liner as I ordered a spare)

Parents are in Bexhill so pool can be available to pick up. Didn't get to use it as a pool for the children due to drought!

Hmmmm, I think my main problem would be where to set it up.

Kitchen/dining room too cold because of my bastard conservatory.
Living room would be a bit wierd I think.

DH would be horrifeid at emptying it with all the yuk in it. I think he'd probably faint TBH.

Hmmmm I shall ponder a little more and bombard you with soem more questions soon.
