Morning all

I am26 weeks with my first baby and have opted for a home birth. Midwife will be coming round in some weeks to come to leave things at mine and check which rooms
Are best to give birth in.

I am definitely in nesting mode and have been scrubbing the house to make sure all lovely; just always unnerving when someone is coming to look at ur house... Anyone one else feel the same? What do the midwives look for?
Thanks for all comments xx

I didn't have a home visit before my home birth but from what I've read on here the midwife is definitely not inspecting your house for cleanliness!

I think they just want to check accessibility and that you have enough space etc. I think some leave a HB kit as well. My midwives just brought everything with them on the night!

Mine discussed what room I had in mind and asked for an area to be set aside for baby just after birth (for resus equipment) and a good light just in case (not needed). We also discussed waterproof sheets etc. she may be interested in access if that is an issue, that sort of thing.
My housekeeping has always been dire but she didn't blink.

The only thing my midwife was interested in was the strength of the floor for the birth pool (which I didn't use anyway). Best wishes for a lovely birth.
