Recovery: emcs v elcs

I'm having an elcs tomorrow, second dd, first section. I'm preparing myself for weeks of pain and immobility. Is it a slightly quicker recovery if it's planned? Also what was the bleeding like after? After my vb it was like 100 heavy periods at once.

Yes, the recovery after an elcs is much quicker than after an emcs. I've had both and there was no comparison.

I think the bleeding is similar to after a vb, because it's the detachment of the placenta which causes that. But 100 heavy periods at once sounds a bit excessive!

I've also had both emcs and elcs and recovery was the same really, depends in how the individual operation goes I guess. With both I felt back to normal after couple weeks and pain was only really felt for first few days and then it was more niggly than painful. If there is one thing you need to do is keep moving, walking around etc, not moving will just cease you up and make things harder and recovery slower. Bleeding is just like a heavy period and not as bad as I was expecting. In all both were easy fast recoveries with only a little pain. Good luck
