I had my DS 5 weeks ago and had light bleeding which stopped at about 4 weeks. I've started bleeding again now Hmm is this still Lochia or could it be my period? How could I tell the difference?

Are you breast or bottle feeding?

If bottle, it's likely to be your period. To be honest, it's difficult to tell.

I'm sorry, in that casr I'm really not sure. If you are having sex again after the birth, best to use contraception if you aren't planning another pg just yet Smile

Have you been out and about a bit more? It's not unusal for lochia to start back up again, generally you think you have more energy and overdo it.

I had cramping and lochia return a week after it stopped, felt like a period but my periods didn't return until 8 months postpartum with dd. The HV said I was overdoing things.

Hope you feel better soon

With my second baby I was breastfeeding, locia stopped at 4.5 weeks, periods restarted at 6 weeks post partum and were regular monthly after that!!!! I felt cheated of my period free time due to breastfeeding.

So it could well be your periods restarting - sorry!

Same thing happened to me. Bled for around 4 weeks then stopped, then had some really light bleeding for a few days. A friend who gave birth around the same time had it too, we both concluded it was a period as they came back as normal after that.
