Vaginal stitches

Hi,
I gave birth to my first 3 months ago and suffered a third degree tear and also some slight grazes around the front which were all stitched up in surgery after the birth.
I have had my 6 week app and also been to see the nurse for my consultant appointment to check all has healed well. Both the gp and consultant nurse have told me that all has healed well, but today i put my fingers inside my vagina and felt something almost plastic like about 3cm in on the side towards my back passage. Could these be stitches that haven't dissolved yet? What could it be? Should I go to my gp to get it looked at as i assumed that i would have nothing left from the surgery etc.

It could be scar tissue... I was convinced something wasn't right with mine after they healed as it was very odd to touch and didnt look right, but it turned out to be scar tissue and nothing to worry about. I was referred to the gynae at hospital who checked everything out. For your own peace of mind it might be worth asking to be referred? but I would have thought stitches would have dissolved by now
