For those ladies who had a speedy first birth, how did number 2 compare?

DC1 was induced, straight to drip, wham bam thank you mam, hello DD!

So I didn't know whether it was fast because I was induced in that way (bearing in mind I was induced because almost 5 days after premature rupture of membranes labour wasn't forthcoming so DD not generally in a hurry!) or if it was because that's what my body does.

DS - waters went around 6pm...no contractions till about 9.30am next day, all came on a bit strong suddenly, got to hospital for 10.30am - 9/10cm gone. DS was born at just gone midday - unexpectedly back to back. Midwives reckoned that had he been right way up I might not have made it from the hospital car park - eek.

So it turns out I probably birth quickly. Are you worried you'll have another fast one? I think I prefer it this way. They let me go home after 4 hours - it was great. Neighbours had seen me leave in the morning and thought I was coming back as I'd been sent home to brew some more - they were very surprised when the car seat came out of the car too.

My first was seven hours from first contraction to baby out, with two hours pushing. First contraction was at about 6am and waters had gone at about midnight.

Second was 1hr 50 mins from waters to baby out (contractions started about 20 mins after waters went), and about fifteen minutes pushing.

Nervous about a third...

First was 7 hours from established labour, with 40 mins pushing. Had epidural.

Second was 3 hours from first contraction, including 40 mins pushing. Waters didn't break.

Third was 2 hours from waters breaking, 1 hour from first feeble contraction, 20 minutes from first painful contraction, 2 mins pushing.

First was 4 1/2 hours. Second was 4 hours in a planned home birth, so not always massively faster. Third, however, shot out in 30 mins from first twinge. Was a bit of a shock for my dh who had to deliver her.

All induced
1st 7 hours including 1 1/2 pushing
2nd 1 hour with 10 mins pushing
Very scared I wouldn't get to hospital for third but he was 11 hours with an hour pushing (and he was the smallest)
Come to think of it ds2 is still in a hurry now. ..
