How to announce an april fool's baby?

nevergoogle · 29/03/2014 18:40

So we now have a date for elective section and it's April 1st.

I'm keeping it quiet for now as I don't want the pressure of everybody knowing that that day is the day and really don't want good luck phonecalls the night before.

But it does mean that when we do phone family and friends to let them know, they might not believe us.

So is there some fun to be had with the announcement? Any ideas welcome.

You could tell people they found a second one in there?

AnotherSpinningFuckingRainbow · 29/03/2014 18:46

You could tell them you've decided on a ludicrous name for the baby

nevergoogle · 29/03/2014 18:54

ah well the name thing might be an issue, what if they don't beleive the name we have chosen, it's certainly not to everyone's taste!

announce that it's quads!

Optimist1 · 29/03/2014 19:56

If you announce a really, really off-the-wall name as the April Fool element perhaps the name you have actually chosen will seem totally acceptable by comparison? Grin

FabBakerGirl · 29/03/2014 19:58

I would announce in the same way as if the baby was born on any other day.

MrsSpencerReid · 29/03/2014 20:00

I would probably announce I'd had a puppy or some other animal but then when people asked when I was pregnant what I was having I would pick a random animal!! Good luck Smile

MooseBeTimeForSpring · 29/03/2014 20:03

You could say you've called the baby "Loof Lirpa"?

wispaxmas · 30/03/2014 18:22

I love the ludicrous name idea. We aren't due until first week of June, but are planning to announce that we've name the baby "Holly Jolly." I'll let you guess what our surname is.

Optimist1 · 30/03/2014 19:36

Is the clue in your nn, wispa? (Was originally thinking "Bollinger" or "Folley" or somesuch!)

wispaxmas · 30/03/2014 21:08

Clue is definitely in the nn Grin

Bankholidaybaby · 01/04/2014 10:44

Wispa, why not call the baby 'Merry'?

YuccanLiederHorticulture · 02/04/2014 07:36

Hi OP - I hope you and your baby are well.
What did you announce, and who was fooled?

Sorry not a fun update but although baby is well I had a cardiac arrest during surgery and have been in intensive care. Completely unexplained so far. Rescucitated and awoke to a room full of panicked medics.

We all hoped it was all an elaborate april fools prank, but unfortunately not.

So we didn't actually announce anything until yesterday. Haven't announced in RL yet what happened only that he's arrived and he's lovely.

Reading this, it still sounds like an odd joke, it's not.

Bloody hell op!

Congratulations on your ds.

wishing you a speedy recovery.

Rachie1986 · 06/04/2014 22:22

Wishing you a speedy recovery! Congrats on your lovely baby :-)

littleducks · 06/04/2014 22:25

Oh dear. Hope you have a speedy recovery and congrats on baby.

Ds was an April fools day baby, he thinks it makes him special. Hopefully you're baby will grow up similarly impressed!

SlinkyB · 06/04/2014 22:33

Hi op, congratulations on the birth of your son.

I had an elcs at the beginning of the year and became very unwell a few hours post delivery. Spent the first few days of ds' s life in intensive care in an induced coma, and didn't go home for a couple of weeks. All very shocking. Hopefully you've got lots of friends and family to support you right now, give yourself time.

The most important thing is that you're here, you're well and baby is fine. Certainly makes you see life a little differently. Enjoy those cuddles!

Thanks Slinky. I think I'm going to start a thread in health as it would be good to hear others experiences of how to rebuild from here. I'm in a bit of a state if truth be told.

Oh no! I really hope you are having some good real life support. How terrifying :(

tethersend · 06/04/2014 22:49

Oh my god nevergoogle, how terrifying!

First of all, congratulations.

Second of all, fucking hell. Are you anywhere close to ok? D you know how long you'll be in hospital for?

Thinking of you Flowers

SlinkyB · 06/04/2014 22:52

I'm not surprised you're in a state, you've been through a massive trauma and it's very very early days.

I hope the hospital and all your friends and family are being wonderful to you.

nevergoogle · 06/04/2014 23:10

have started this thread instead not feeling very 'april fool' spirited. Smile
