First labour...I really really enjoyed it!!

Just want to say to everyone that is terrified of labour (I was too) that my experience was a positive one. We always here all the awful stories but no one ever tells you the nice stories. I was absolutely petrified and had been told it's the worst pain ever, you think your gonna die etc etc!!! But when the time came for me I was so calm!

It did hurt yes but so does period pain or trapped wind and when I look back now I just thought of every contraction I got I was close to meeting my baby, and inbreeding contractions you do get a little breather . I was lucky tho that I had a fairly quick labour but of those that are scared please please stay positive and calm. Every labour is different tho so I hope when I have baby no 2 I have the same experience. Xx

congratulations OP and thanks for sharing, you are right people are only too happy to tell the scary stories and it's not always helpful.

Congratulations! Thank you for posting this; I'm due any day now and although I'm mostly excited I do get The Fear now and again, so it's great to hear positive stories

congratulations and it's good to hear it can be done without it being a total nightmare. Enjoy the newborn baby snuggles and the upcoming spring with your baby. I think it's valuable to share with others a positive birth. It shows the vast range of variety there is in birth.

Congratulations! I was the same and had a really positive first birth, partly down to hypnobirthing, being at home and a birthing pool and partly down to luck that it all went smoothly. I was having a similar chat with hubby the other day and feel a bit like its a crime against the sisterhood to admit it wasn't that bad but I think it's down to the way you deal with it. Yes it was painful but the pain isn't constant and I think if you have the right coping strategies in place it's fine and obviously the fact you get a baby at the end of it makes it more than worth it :)

I had a terrible time first time round. Luck, pure luck. Nothing to do with coping strategies or the way I dealt with it. It was not my fault.

Congratulations op. Sounds like you had a lovely labour and delivery and that's cause for celebration indeed.

As someone who would never frighten a pregnant women with scary birth stories (and I have had a few!!), I am really really pleased that it was so lovely for you. My friend wanted me to tell her ALL the gory details about birth and BF. I did but in a positive way IYKWIM. She went on to have a quick easy birth and no trouble at all with BF. But my Mum (I know a long time ago) thought she was dying as no none told her what it would/could be like. I think the reason you just hear the negatives of CB is because we need to talk about it....It took me years to 'get over' my last birth. And it still rears its ugly head now and then. Stop...I understand why you say its all about how you deal with it..but that's not the whole story. I was very prepared for all my births, but nature thought otherwise. I had to be induced with DS2 I had no choice. It was 5 days of hell. Nothing I did to prepare myself for it helped.

Im 6 weeks gone and I know I have a fair way to go yet till "the time comes" but im absolutely terrified about the birth :( its my first and its keeping me from being excited about my pregnancy!

I had 2 easy births. They just popped out yes it hurt but it was lovely. Nothing like what is depicted on TV, my advice is to just accept that it's going to hurt like shit and go with it don't fight the pains whatever you do because you will lose control and panic.
I had a water birth with DS and he floated up to me so I was the first to hold him.
I would love to give birth again but I'm not very good at babies!!

Mine was a 21 hour back to back labour and I too felt it was a really positive (if painful) experience and look back on it in almost a fond way! Odd I know and I too was petrified!
