Being induced but husband has flu

I posted the other day as I am going into the hosp today to start to be induced. Over the weekend, my hubby has developed really bad cold/flu and I am worried if he will be allowed in to stay with me through labour or visiting while I am waiting for something to happen. Will he be allowed near baby once it is born? Help!

Well first it depends whether it is the cold or the flu- is he able to get out of bed and walk about or is he bedridden?
Why are you getting induced today- is it because you are overdue or is there any wiggle room in the dates?
If he can walk about I can't see any reason that he couldn't be with you on the la our ward but realistically you don't want your brand new baby to get a cold so I'm afraid if you can't put off the induction I would get him to stay far away from the baby.
It would be very selfish if him to take a nasty cold onto a postnatal ward with other new mums and their brand new babies so I wouldn't let him do this.
Sorry you are going through this but anything he is prevented from doing will be in the best interests of you and your baby and the other mums and new babies.

It is prob more of a really bad cold than flu but he has had since thurs and doesn't seem to be getting any better.

I'm being induced due to low platelets. I've been monitored 3 times last wk and decision made to go in today to start induction tomorrow but I'm thinking of phoning and seeing if possible to postpone. Maybe I could get monitored and have bloods checked again today but put off induction until later in week.

Don't know what to do for best.

I would phone up the ward and speak to the midwife. I am sure they will be sympathetic but you need some expert advice on this I think.
