Silly me, tell me it ok though!

Very quickly-I had a repeat c section this week-I should know better but without thinking lifted my 3 year old daughter up today so she could see out the window. Feel a bit stupid and sore after-I won't be doing it again-but just want to be reassured I won't have done any damage will I? Thanks

I dived to pick my nearly 3yr old up off the floor where he'd fallen off the bed in the first hour I got home from hospital after my second section. Was v sore but no lasting damage!

You'll likely be just fine. Lesson learned. DD came flying out of school a day after my stitch was removed. My reflex reaction was to pick her up and spin her round. My wound reopened. Yeah, not recommended!

Showy-that must have been awful for you. Can I ask how did you know it had reopened? Was it the scar on the skin that reopened not the muscles underneath? And what happened next?

Oh no, you could see. It was the very top layer. And there was nothing to do but be very, very careful and wait for it to knit together again. It was a bit weepy and stung a lot if my clothes caught it but it was unproblematic in the main.

When you have a cs, you heal from the inside out, the skin being the last bit to heal so the inside bit's probably healed and can withstand the odd ill-advised tug. It's quite easy to pull your wound by forgetting and picking up an older child/sitting up oddly in bed/bending oddly etc. It just aches and hurts but chances are you've done no real damage at all. I bet most people having their 2nd cs forget and pick up their older child and then remember pretty quickly when it hurts.

I feel ok now thanks. Just trying to comfort the lo who is being v fussy at the breast and screaming uncontrollably. Poor bub!
