3 precipitous labours, should I have 4 at home?

I'm only 10 weeks pregnant with my 4 but already trying to figure out if I would be better off just having a home birth!

My 3 DC births were all very very fast, with no pain relief and I appear to just have one or two really random very very mild tightnings with no patten in between and nothing really happens until my waters break then it just goes crazy and I deliver in minutes my 3 DC I went from waters breaking at 5 cm to having her in 12 mins!

I can't explain why but I'm just uneasy with the whole home birth thing and this time around as I'm a single mother I will be having to wait for 2 friends to arrive one to look after DC and one to be my birth partner and drive me to hospital (though these people both live within 10 mins of me)

Also another thing is it will of been 7 years since my last birth so maybe this one will be totally different, should I just have it in my head that I will do the hospital delivery and if anything changes I will just dial 999, even though I would prefer a midwife then a paramedic delivering me ?

Go with whatever makes you feel comfortable. There's no point having a home birth if it will stress you out.

Did you have your first 3 in hospital? How did you get to there in time before?
jiltedjohnsjulie is right! you need to be where you feel most comfortable and at 10 weeks you've got plenty of time to come up with a plan?

I agree with those who are saying you need to be where you are comfortable.
FWIW, DS2 was delivered by a paramedic. She was fab. She admitted later it was her first delivery where she led, but you honestly couldn't tell. The MW arrived in time to deliver the placenta, and commented how excellent the ambulance emergency delivery kit was - better than the one she carried in her car. Presumably because if you call the midwife for a homebirth, you have done some prep, but DH literally had got the towels as ordered by ambulance control. Tho it doesn't come recommended (ambulance control telling you not to push til the paramedics were confirmed as on their way.....), the care DS2 and I received was first class - and we probably got more "medical attention" than with DS1 in the hospital - tho I suspect it was a quiet morning, and if they were running short on staff, I'd have been left earlier.

Thanks for replies I'm hoping I will have some warning again this time to allow me to get into hospital my delivers went like this.

1st woke with upset tummy and very mild cramps phoned hospital told me I wasn't in labour as I could talk, phoned mum she told me to ignore and go in if I wanted got to assessment ward to very stroppy mw, head popped out and delivered in side room!

2nd woke with mild tightnings had two, got in car no other pains, got to hospital was checked 7cm sat chatting to mw for 15 mins 8.45 contractions started dd was born at 9am

3rd had sweep that morning as 4cm when she went to do it, went to friends for day went home and decided not to go to bed, again tightnings started very random only had two at home not painful and about 8 mins apart, went to hospital had one in car on way mw checked me was 5cm as soon as she checked all went mental contractions kicked in and I went from 5cm to having dd in 12 minutes!

I think in slowly coming around to the idea of I home birth and think it will be a lot less stressful than worrying about trying to get to hospital

I had a precipitous labour with my first and have just booked in for a home birth with my second just in case. They are fully aware that I only want a home birth if nessersary but will go to hospital if possible.

They are totally on board with my desison but it's nice to know the midwives will arrive within 30
Mins (which is quicker than normal due to circumstances).

I went from no contractions and 3cm dilated to 10cm and crowning in less 30 mins so I slightly scared about this time!

Mcbaby I think I might do the same, my neice who is a trainee midwife is hopefully going to deliver baby for me and she should be able to get to me within 20-30 mins if I go into labour during the night that is!!!
