Just watched "The business of being born" on you tube. It's a very good documentary about home birth vs hospital birth. Fascinating.

Having given birth twice at a New York hospital, I can safely say that, if the pregnancy is uncomplicated, you have to go with a midwife. I had two fantastic experiencesone in a birthing centre attached to the hospital, and one in regular labour and deliveryand both times I could move around as I pleased, eat and drink during labour, and be monitored only intermittently with a heart rate monitor.
