Swimming after childbirth

I am very aware that I will potentially have neither the time nor inclination to get back to my swimming routine soon after childbirth, but please bear with.....

It's the whole bleeding thing I can't fathom. I understand you bleed A LOT. For a LONG time after giving birth. You can't wear a tampon, so if you wanted to, how can you swim?

Not a massive concern of mine, just a wee quandry. So thanks in advance.

I'm 39+6 and can't sleep by the way, incase that isn't obvious.

I believe it is the case that swimming is advised against for about 6 weeks post partum due to thevrisk of infection.
