Soothing the pain after stitches - any tips?

I had a 2nd degree tear and whilst not too bad, I can get quite sore at times especially after having a wee.

A warm bath helps a bit but does anyone have any tips on things I can use to help the healing process along?

Thank you!

what I found really helpful was using the showerhead to run tepid water over the area everytime it got sore/ stingy.

really helped to cool it down and take the bite out of it.

congratulations on the baby, btw Thanks

I had a squirty bottle I filled with cool water and a few drops of witch hazel to squirt myself with after urinating.

Witch hazel liquid on a big maternity pad. Seriously for me it was like heaven!

Warm, salt baths helped me. I even weed in the bath on those occasions, I'm afraid!

Definitely agree with cupcake78 about the witch hazel. Also a few drops of tea tree oil in your bath might help. Congratulations too :)

Yes to witch hazel on a maternity pad. Even better if you put the maternity pads in the freezer for a few hours first. Amazing.

Does it sting at all?

Yy to freeze maternity pad. But wear a pair of pants between you and it!
It will suddenly feel better after a few days x

Witch hazel on pad is amazing Smile

Also lavender and tea tree oil plus salt in the bath. MW also made up some essential oil in ky jelly to apply.

Healed quickly and well.
