I didn't have stitches with my dd just a few grazes and I'm due again with #2 shortly, and worried about needing stitches. It's like my biggest fear, is it quite unlikely if I didn't the first time. Dd was 7.13 I had a waterbirth x

I didn't have any with dc1 just one minor graze. Had dc2 few days ago and had episiotomy, however he was much heavier and had ventouse. My first birth was natural just gas and air v easy, I don't think you can completely predict. Stitches were my biggest fear too, but they have healed nicely. I gave heard if you didn't first time then looks good for second, so fingers crossed for you. But just to reassure you it's much better than I thought, not too much pain, there are always more horror stories than good ones!

I never had stitches with my first child but found giving birth (as didn't know what to expect) horrendous.
Second child, birth was easy but a little fast and he tore my euretha (sorry spelling terrible) so I had a catheter and a few stitches. After giving birth I really didn't care what they did and just sucked on the gas and air. I was that happy that the birth had been easier and he was safe and sound in my arms.
If you need stitches its o.k, the catheter was actually ok as I didn't have to get in and out of bed for a day to go wee.
Both mine were 9lb 2oz so even big babies don't tear you it was the speed he came out that got me x

No stitches the first time and no tearing (7 pound 8 ounce baby) just a small graze. Just had second baby and again no tearing, no stitches and this time no graze. Feel pretty much back to normal after four days, though second baby was a pound lighter.

I have had 4 DC. The lightest was 7lb4oz and the heaviest was 7lb8oz and I have not had any stitches or tears. Only a small graze with DC 1.

I have had 2 with epidurals, 2 totally drug free, 3 were induced and 1 ventouse. I don't know if I was just lucky or if I have a big overstretched fanj!!

My friend didn't tear with first, had a small year with second.

You'll be fine :) I had a 2nd degree tear and didn't feel it when it happened and was completely numbed for stitches - I was too in awe to notice
