I woke up at 5am this morn with VERY strong pains, lasted about 2 hrs then wore off, have had braxton hicks for a few weeks.

Then at 8pm i have had a show, and now have mild niggily pains, have rang labour ward and they have said that something may start tonight, i am crapping myself as i am booked in for section next Friday.

What does everyone think? I am likely to go into labour soon?

you could do with two of mine i had a show and a baby a few hours later - but with no. 4 I had a show/pink smears from wednesday until sunday when she was born. Good Luck - I'm excited for you!!! why were you having the section - do you need to avoid natural labour?

NotAnOtter · 31/07/2006 23:58

sounds likely..good luck!

pucca · 01/08/2006 00:05

AS...Having a section because i had a 3rd degree tear with my dd, this baby has been deemed "big" so having a natural labour i don't think would be a good idea lol, thats why i am panicking a bit in case things happen quickly >

If the baby was born now, he would be ok wouldn't he? is it not a bit too early? 37+1 weeks.

Thanks for the replies.

sounds like you limbering up there.....exciting.

or are you not wanting to labour and vaginally deliver????

pucca · 01/08/2006 00:10

I do actually wish i was having a natural, but have had a few "probs" since having my dd so don't think consultant wants to risk causing more probs.I am dreading having a section tbh...nevermind.

hmmmmm....you do realise that by not getting ready you jinxed your own self into going early don't ya.....hmmm...hmmmmmm.....!!!!

I find that....make plans and something goes and jinxes them......always.....

hope you calm down then so you can indeed get ready properly. Like, TOMORROW maybe !??

apronstrings · 01/08/2006 00:16

throw some things in a bag and THEN go to bed!!!

VeniVidiVickiQV · 01/08/2006 00:21

Im sure baby will be fine and I am sure you will be too. Bound to be a bit smaller than they estimate since he will be 20 days earlier than their estimation iykwim? DS was estimated to be as big as DD who was 9lb 13oz (she was 13 days over). He was born 5 days early in the end though at 8lb 12oz.

pucca · 01/08/2006 09:52

Ok i am still here, lol, still have mild niggily pains though and have had a little bit more of a show come away, the size of it last night i thought it had all come away (sorry tmi!)i definately think it has all come away now.

It is a bit strange and new for me to have a show first, as with my dd my waters broke theni had a show then contractions started soon after.

Who knows lol.

Thanks for all the replies

My midwives have always said to me that a show can happen weeks before the baby arrives!! I never ever noticed mine. maybe I never had any !!
Good luck

joanna4 · 01/08/2006 10:14

Both times I had show only hours before mine were born. Second time I remember dragging my hubby to the toilet cos he missed it first time!

Lems · 01/08/2006 10:36

Just a quick update

I spoke to MW again yesterday and ended up being checked, i wasn't dilated so panic over thank god! Would have been a nightmare at mo as i still haven't sorted all my baby gear out, and the biggest prob was my mum is away at mo and she is having my dd when i go in, so big sigh of relief here lol, things could still happen before though because of having the show but not imminent...when the MW did the internal she was pushing the head and making it bounce lol so his head is well and truly low!

Not disappointed as its only 9 days till my section anyway just gives me the time i need to get things sorted.
