I'm 38+2 today, started having contractions on Friday, few hours then stopped for hours then back etc, went on until yesterday pm when waters popped and contractions ramped up got regular and painful. I thought DS would be here by now, but no, by 10pm contractions gone :(
Have tried nipple stimulation which does seem to bring on the odd contraction but nothing regular and nipples killing me now!

What else can I do? I planned a home birth have everything ready and was really looking forward to using my pool :(

Meant to say this is DC3, if it makes any difference!

The only thing I've heard of is induction acupuncture. Good luck.

CrewElla · 27/01/2014 16:52

have you been on the exercise balk? it worked a charm for me.

MrsJK · 27/01/2014 17:03

Nothing productive to add from me sorry Hmm just wanted to say good luck!

How long have they given you until wld need to be induced?

ZenNudist · 27/01/2014 17:08

Sex? Long walk. Swimming. Ball bouncing. Stay active.

I'm 2 weeks further on than you so this is a subject close to my heart!

wickedwitchNE · 27/01/2014 17:08

This happened to me - walk, walk, walk. Up and down stairs sideways, round the shops etc. Just get some sleep too, you will need your energy for labour. Good luck!

Rosieliveson · 27/01/2014 17:08

I've known approx 1000mg evening primrose to do the job but cause extra painful contractions.

Good luck with it Grin

Reallynothappy · 27/01/2014 17:10

Walking, more walking, then a bit more. Good luck!

FairyTrain · 27/01/2014 19:30

Can I add.... Walking...worked for me on Fri (at least 8km)!

Undertheboredwalk · 27/01/2014 19:34

Thanks all, have spent the day walking and bouncing on the ball. Did nothing! Now I'm starting to get the odd contraction, lazed on the sofa relaxing. Maybe I need to just chill out? Have got a hot curry on its way from the Indian, then will have a bath and small glass of wine in chill out and forget about it all attempt!
Tomorrow back to the walking and walking and walking!

Vigorous sweep followed by doggy sex within the hour.

Worked all three times for me!

Showy · 28/01/2014 11:35

If your waters have gone, please don't even think about having sex. What time frame have you been given now that your waters have gone?

Given that there's very, very little you can do to speed things up, I'd try and go down the relaxation route because whether you labour naturally or consent to induction, you potentially have a knackering time ahead. I wouldn't go marching about and swinging from the light fittings. I had 31 hours and 38 hours respectively between waters breaking and delivery with dd and ds. First time round I did all that ridiculous running around stuff and I was so knackered by delivery that I was a total state. With ds, I had a bath, slept, ate and drank good stuff and felt so much better for preserving my energy.

Boobz · 28/01/2014 12:19

Ah sorry, didn't see the waters going..

Boobz · 28/01/2014 12:24

Showy speaks sense. I had 72 hours of latent labour, followed by 23 hours of active labour for my first baby, and about 40 hours of latent labour followed by 12 hours of active for my third baby... (one in between was a heavenly 10 hours start to finish!)

With the first I ran around like a mad thing and was EXHAUSTED when it came to the last 10 hours or so... was much more chilled out for third baby and slept in between contractions if I could, and laid around and ate toast, rather than bouncing, walking, tweaking, accupupressure, homeopathy etc etc...

Get the tens on if the contractions are ramping up... how are you getting on now?

Undertheboredwalk · 29/01/2014 09:02

Thanks all, contractions kept up Monday evening. I got up at 3am when I couldn't sleep through them any more. Got in my birthpool at 6:30 and DS finally arrived at 10am, weighing 7lb 11oz Grin
I was definitely glad I'd relaxed and gotten some sleep! It was a lovely calm birth, even had DD2 18mths swimming around the pool with me for a while! Grin
