Pre-labour / Braxton Hicks confusion

Hello

I'm 40+2 with dc2, thought Id gone into labour last night but now its all stopped again. Am really confused.

Can anyone help me understand what's going on?!

My last labour was an intense 8hrs from start to finish, at 41+8 with not much warning.

Yesterday I had infrequent waves of pain particularly in my lower back & right hip, but I knew it wasn't low enough down. Bump was tightening, baby kicking. I was very agitated & emotional then I would calm down again. Pain would stay but not as strong. Walking round or breathing helped. By 11 pm it seemed to be every 15 mins, really uncomfortable, but couldn't say it was a contraction. I had a lot of the same symptoms as start of ds's labour, including throwing up. I eventually had hot bath, paracetamol, and finally put tens on. Tens helped me to sleep for 1-2 hrs at a time but when I took it off the hip / back pain intensified.

Was expecting to have tipped into labour by now but instead am back to normal.

I'm just so surprised how different this is from ds's birth. Guess last night must have been some kind of pre-labour / BH. Has anyone else experienced this or found labour very different second time around?

I've just had my third and had weeks of that and it drove me crazy. I was completely unsure of myself bybthe end but I will say when it happened, I knew straight away that that was it.

I think if you get in a bath with BH they stop and that's how you can tell. With my worst episode they tailed off as soon as I got in.

Homebirthquestion its weird to think that still on out second and third babies we can feel unsure what is happening.

I've (now) diagnosed last night as a pre-labour episode. I think pain might also be connected to having SPD. Perhaps I should start a thread about that!

It can't go on every night for another 2 weeks I hope!!!

Just reading the thread about warnings for second labour -everyone is so different.

Zen I went through exactly the same thing last night! I've been having constant BH for weeks but last night I was getting painful ones and hip and thigh pain. When is your due date? This is my second DC, but last time I had no signs until my waters went at 39+6. I think I'm starting to drive myself mad by analysing every little twinge!

Oh and I also have SPD!
