Recovery after 3rd section - your experiences?

Tentatively thinking of TTC no 3, but one of my concerns is recovery after a third section. I ended up with a scar infection after my 2nd section, but otherwise my recovery was really quick actually.

Now 9 years down the line, I worry my recovery won't be as swift.

Any experiences would be most appreciated.

I've only had 2 C sections after a really unpleasant forceps delivery. I found my 2nd section was easier to recover from after I was advised to stand up straight, this went against everything my body was telling me but was surprisingly less painful than being hunched over.

I also had an infection after my first which left a bigger section of scar on one end, no infection after the second and I actually lost the scar from the first! Now I have one very neat small line scar 3 later that I struggle to spot.

Just marking my place here as I am considering trying for a 3rd dc - which would mean a second ELCS.

I'll let you know in about 6 weeks. It will be my 3rd c/s in 3.5 years. The other two have had easy and uncomplicated recoveries. I'm in my late 30's.

Great, I loom forward to hearing about that, Mrs!

Good luck to you Smile

I had a 3rd C-section after a gap of 7 years, My recovery was amazingly fast. I felt almost back to normal after about a week, no infections and very straight forward. The only time I had any discomfort is when I over did it a bit too much.

Im having C-section number 4 in April. I have a feeling this one won't be easy, thanks to SPD and Placenta previa. Congratulations on your baby Smile

I had a 3rd section in Oct after a gap of 4 & 1/2 years. I found it was the quickest recovery, though had to give myself heparin injections for 1 week after and wear ted stockings for 6 weeks, which made me feel a bit invalided. I think last time I was only told to wear the stockings for a week and just had the injections while I was relatively immobile in hospital.
My scar looks ok. Probably not as neat as it was after the 2nd, but still better than it was after the 1st emergency one. Standing up straight post op and having iron tablets pre-op helped I think.
Phantom let me know how number 4 goes... Good luck :)
