Overdue - When is the latest I will be induced?

Hi,

1 week over due now, I have an appointment at term + 11 next week (Monday) to discuss induction options (not start the process).

What is the latest they would make me wait to start the induction process? Am I right thinking I could be waiting until I hit 42 weeks? Will they do it any earlier upon request when I go on Monday?

I know it's only a matter of days, but I am happy to be induced as early possible as I have become extremely uncomfortable and almost immobile over the last couple of weeks :-/ I am only 4.5ft, and weighed about 8 stone pre pregnancy, so it has really taken it out of my body!

:'(

Whenever you agree to it.... Wink.

Seriously, it depends on your hospital's induction policy. Ask.
Typical is anything from T+7 to T+10, or even T+14.
A normal pregnancy lasts from 37 to 42 weeks, so depending on how you look at it, T+14 is not truly 'overdue' IYSWIM.

You are likely to be examined when you go next time and if your cervix is favourable i.e. open enough to allow an examining finger in, you are likely to be offered a sweep.
Go for it, they can work. Keep active, walk if you can, clean skirting boards (good position to encourage the baby in a good position) and hopefully something will begin to happen.

Good luck.

I have already had a sweep, doesn't seem to have worked though. I am forever bouncing on that bloody gym ball, doing and redoing house work, up and down stairs for no reason.

I am just truly buggered now, I feel like I have hit a wall and don't even want to get out of bed in the morning ha ha!

I just wondered what other peoples experiences were regarding when they were induced, but I will just beg ask nicely for a day ASAP! Smile

I was induced T+15 (after having declined it the day before as I thought things were happening).
With my others I needed repeated sweeps, but no further inductions.

Depends on your area I think. Current practise here is term + 12 for induction.

I am 41+2 today and feel your pain op. I have had induction booked since last week for this Sunday, it's my third baby and the other two were spontaneous natural del at around 39 weeks, midwife thinks cervix will be ready and I won't need drip etc, just waters breaking in hosp as baby too high to risk break at home, said baby too much room to swim about as my tummy muscles so stretched so he will drop down when waters out! I have tried bounce ball, long walks etc but I think they just come when they ready.
