Help..!! I know what's going to happen..how do I cope..?...

I'm pregnant with baby2 (13 weeks) and so excited BUT at my mw appointment this week the mw read through the notes from dd's birth ...

The birth from what I remember was not a bad thing and all within 11 hours and all on g&a and a water birth. Obviously the g&a was doing it's job as since seeing the mw I have got flash backs to the birth and the pain prior to being admited etc...HELP...!!! I have ages to go but i'm scared already...

Those of you with more than 1 how did you cope with knowing what's "going to happen" iykwim..

Oh i was scared for the whole pregnancy and verged on panic attacks when me and dp did a trial run to the hospital as i really didn't want to go there as it is so far away but was the nearest option.
Anyway my fears werent neccersary as yes the birth was very painful but only lasted 55 mins and i gave birth on my bathroom floor so didn't need to go to the hospital!
And yes i want to do it again
I know it is easy to say but you will be fine ,you have already done it once so you can do it again!

panicked and panicked, spoke to my consultant and felt a bit reassured.

we all go through it unfortunately.sorry.there's only 1 way out for the baby, it's worth it in the end(as you'll know!)

Thanks..I'm hoping that this one will be quick. I remember feeling worried when pregnant with dd and I remember shaking with fear when my water broke at home. BUT it seems strange but I don't remember feeling scared once in labour at hospital..

I hope my calming instincts take over

I'm also scared and 32 (nearly 33 weeks) pregnant... Ummmm. I know whats coming. And also having baby this time in a whole different county than I had DD.

I also had a painful but nice birth with DD and LOVED my mw's... I had a lovely one at the birth who helped so much and was pro-epidural... even tho it wasn't v.effective on me. My time in the delivery suite was 5.5 hours and went quickly!

This time I had a miserable mw... who hates epidurals and wants me to have a home birth. I feel as if she wants to dictate what sort of birth I should have etc... and said my last mw wasn't that supportive if while I was in labour she was popping 'in and out'. I liked the fact she wasn't there the whole time. I had my eyes shut the whole time practically and DP and I were together and I coped much better than (excuse this) but some silly cow telling me to breathe through the pain... no thank you! I've got to get my baby out and i'll do it my own way. Might add smuggly to her- I didn't rip either, I had a small tear and graze and didn't need any help to get DD out. I didn't wail either. In fact mw said it was the quietest birth she'd had in ages. I liked the fact I knew she could have a cuppa too- mw work bloody hard and deserve to have plenty of rest when they work on the delievery wards.

So hence why i'm worrying... not so much with the pain in the sense of 'pain' but in the sense of me having no choice on what pain relief I can have. Also I haven't even seen her to talk it through with her as i've had another mw the past two app's as she has been off sick... With any luck she won't be any where near my birth and i'll get an epidural happy mw who will willingly let the anetheisiologist stab me in the back with a pain relieving drug- and fingers crossed it works this time.

Oh i was feeling exactly the same as you when ii found out i was pg with my 2nd, i am a BIG baby myself & giving birth to my first was bad enough. From the moment i found out i was pg i was on & on at Dp about how i was never going to get through the birth i spent many a night crying.

Please do not worry yourself to death, you will get through it, in fact my 2nd was alot easier than my first, it was alot faster & probably more painful because i only had gas & air 2nd time round BUT i would have my 2nd birth more that my 1st any day.

I did start to relax in the middle months & then started really worrying in the last few weeks but like my partner said no matter how much you worry the baby has to come out.
Think positive, right a birth plan & try to relax you will be fine

pol omg..!!! I would hate to have a mw like yours, I admire you though having baby in a differnt country. TBH that would also worry me. We are wanting to move before baby2 is born so I may end up giving birth in a different hospital and that worries me..!!

scooby, dh is the same as yours. He tries to reassure me 100% but then I think "he doesn't have to go through the birth"..! Suppose it's harder for them not being able to physically do anything iykwim. I want dh there though as he really is my voice and like with dd I trsust him 100% to have my interests at heart.

Thinking about it, maybe the reason why dd's birth was a nice memory iykwim is probably because I had 2 mw's that I knew I could trust 100%. They to kept popping in and out which suited dh & I and they also commented on how quiet I was. They were amazed at how in control I was. I also think my detailed plan and the fact that I was so prepared helped..??
