Quick question: I'm wondering if we get offered the test or whether we have to request it.

Have you tested + before?

Have you had a previous baby with birth problems due to GBS?
If no, then you probably won't be offered the test.

You can get it privately if you want it and the NHS does not offer it.

The GBS society website can tell you a lot. It's www.gbss.org.uk
the best thing to do is test privately at around 36 weeks apparently, a + then would indicate a possible delivery risk and need for antibiotics.
I tested + last year and was treated so I'm quite concerned about being screened, but all of the HCPs ive spoken too say "you can have it one day and not the next, stop worrying". According to my medics they only screen if you've had a previous baby who had problems. I am rather Hmm . My last baby was 15 years ago, my diagnosis was last year!
Go and have a good read up of the website.

Thank you!
I haven't had it but I've read about it so I'd rather be safe than sorry.
I'll look into getting tested privately
