I am 39+5 today and waters have just gone. They are pink and I have just seen a tiny speck of red blood. Labour ward not answering the phone. Should I stay at home until my so far fairly mild contractions get stronger, or head to the labour ward now?

I am in Paris and will be using public transport to get to the hospital so I also don't want to leave it too close to midnight. What do you all think?

Pink is normal. I am a midwife.

Not normal is
:heavily bloodstained
: green or brown
: nasty smell

I had pink waters and they kept me in at the hospital for monitoring. I hope you are getting checked as I'm typing this. Best wishes!

Just an update: by the time we were ready to go to hospital waters were turning green.

Arrived at the hospital at 8pm, contractions became very intense very quickly and DS was born at 10.33pm after a 15 minute active labour stage.

It turned out that he had the umbilical cord wrapped twice round his neck, so they think this is why there was meconium in the waters.

Thanks mayhew and Rhianna for your advice!
