Hi all, I've been having twinges all day and for the past hour or so I've been having pains that feel like period pains, but they start in my back then move to my stomach, it kind of feels like someone is squishing my insides? It's my first pregnancy and I had a scare last week so I don't really want to phone the hospital as I'm scared I'll go in to be sent home(family are travelling an hour or so when i go into labour) would just like people's opinions on weather they sound like BH or contractions?

How exciting! Have you timed the pains? Are they regular? Can you talk through them?

metalmummy696 · 27/12/2013 20:48

I've been trying to time them but when ever one comes I'm so focused on it I forget what time the last one was! gunna have a bounce on my birthing ball and see how I go

Hmmm sounds positive! Grin

You can always call the hospital and ask their advice, you don't have to go in yet. Mine wanted you to have 3x contractions in 10 mins before you went in! But that was if you were low risk.

How many weeks are you?

AndIFeedEmGunpowder · 27/12/2013 20:52

Birthing ball is a brilliant idea. If you have pain in your back all fours may be good too.

RegainingUnconsciousness · 27/12/2013 20:52

Sounds like it's on to me!

Contractions felt to me like a fist grabbing roundly cervix and twisting! Well, the early ones did.

Look for a contraction timing app for your phone, much easier.

Good luck!

Have you got an app on your phone? I found that the best way as I just had to try and whack my phone as it started and again when it ended. Helped keep track!

metalmummy696 · 27/12/2013 21:17

I've download an app now, I've got my younger cousin whacking the tablet when I have one

Ooh it's a live birth thread! Grin
Good luck metalmummy. Keep us posted if you can!

charitymum · 27/12/2013 21:56

Hi. Sounds promising. If you are 37 weeks you should call midwife now just to let then know. It is a little bit early and they will just want to chat it through. Doesn't mean they will want you in now.

Good luck-look forward to the baby news!!!

daisywaisydoo · 27/12/2013 22:33

Ahh exciting, good luck! Is it your first?

AndIFeedEmGunpowder · 28/12/2013 19:52

How are you OP?

rollmeover · 28/12/2013 21:08

Good luck metalmummy, hope things are still going well.

Sorry to crash your thread but can anyone recommend an app for timing contractions? (Currently 39 weeks!)

Thank you

AndIFeedEmGunpowder · 28/12/2013 22:47

Roll I just downloaded one of the free ones. I would try it out before you are actually in labour though, and check your DH/birth partner is up to speed. DH couldn't work it out in the stress and ended up being old school and using his watch.

rollmeover · 29/12/2013 15:59

Thanks Gunpowder, think my DH will be the same. Will have a play about with it tonight.

AndIFeedEmGunpowder · 29/12/2013 19:03

Good luck Smile
