Fools paradise?

My first child was quite punctual - I went into labour on my due date.

I am currently 33 weeks pregnant and like most heavily pregnant women I am fed up and wanting it to be over. Because I was fortunate with dd's 'punctuality', I have convinced myself that the next baby will likewise be either on time or perhaps a day or two early.

Am I living in a fools paradise? Is there any evidence to suggest that if you are 'on time' with one, you can expect the same with your 2nd. If I am deluding myself I need to know now - otherwise I will be bitterly disappointed when 19 April comes and goes!

Er, they say that don't they? But my ds1 was 1 day late..ds2, 10 days late and needed a sweep to persuade to come out. Sorry and good luck.

HMC - My ds was a week early and I, like you, assume that this baby will be nice and prompt too...... however, the doctor, midwives and consultant all said that it really doesn't matter. Grrrrrrrr!

But I am still clinging to hope that they are wrong.

Oh bugger, bugger and thrice bugger!

Still, best to be prepared I suppose

HMC - Start drinking Raspberry leaf tea daily from about 36 wks onwards.... the baby will pop out at 38 wks.

I assumed it like mad with second birth - dd1 was two days early - then suddenly realised I could be wrong.

Then dd2 turned up 16 days early!

I wouldn't say no to that motherinferior! (although no earlier than that preferably)

I was weeding the garden (which was quite physically demanding) when I went into labour with no. 1 and I often wonder if there was any connection. Perhaps I'll start doing 'rigorous' things like cleaning the windows when my due date approaches, and generally overdoing it!

Both my two sons arrived punctually on their due date (I am quite anal about deadlines at work so my dh assumes they will be following in my footsteps)

I was three days late with No1 and 10 days with No2. A freind was three weeks early with no1 & 2 and then two weeks late with no3!
