I gave birth 2 weeks ago and still feel a bit strange. Was wondering how long you bleed on average for.

Also I was stitches (2nd degree) they are desolvable. How long until it healed for you??

With both mine I bled for about 6 weeks and felt sore for about 8-10 weeks, with twinges for at least a year. But I had a third degree tear so that may not be normal.

Congratulations though, and hope you feel better soon

After ds I bleed for 6-7 weeks although for at least 4 of them it was a very small amount.

Was sore for about a week after but thankfully I had no stitches.

I had natural birth but 2nd degree tear. Bleeding changed to spotting after about a week and completely stopped by 3 weeks when we were back having sex as all felt fine by then.

I gave birth 4 weeks ago and has 2nd degree tear. My stitches are just about healed so feel normal in that way and I'm still bleeding but very lightly so expecting that to stop soon. Like you I still felt quite strange after 2 weeks.

Bleed for 5-6 weeks. It stopped at 4 weeks but came back when I over did it.

I had an episiotomy and felt much better by 6 weeks but it took around 4 months to feel normal again.

Congrats on you LO Smile

rtfairy have you had a bath or used any washing products down there?

Six weeks bleeding - two weeks heavy. Felt like is been hot by a bus for ten days. Congrats and feel better soon!

drawohamme · 24/12/2013 22:08

Hit, not hot!

I'm sure that my bleeding had more or less stopped by my 6 week check up with the doctor as I remember that she seemed surprised. She didn't ask to see my stitches (2nd degree tear) and I was quite happy they had healed up by then.

My midwife told me she thinks it's very important to check your stitches yourself in the mirror and to "air" them a few times a day to help them heal up fast.

I think by around 12 weeks I was feeling more 'normal'.

Everyone is different though, so take care of yourself and get as much rest as possible, don't try to prove anything to anyone by being superwoman and hoovering every day and cooking/cleaning etc.!

Just started using products in the last day actually as felt normal, only had showers and washed myself twice a day with shower head. No time for bath yet unfortunately but sure it would be fine now! x

Had an episiotomy and stitches hurt for about 2 weeks, also only bled for about 2 weeks.
Was totally ok and back to old self after 3 weeks.
