Going private at Knutsford suite with twins pregnancy.

Hello everyone,

I am currently 18 weeks into my twins pregnancy and thinking about booking a private room at Knutsford suites and having Dr. Shriden as my obstetrician.

Does anyone have any experience of multiple births at Knutsford? Also does the unit have all the necessary equipment to deal with complications?

I am very anxious and any help or suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Fatima

Knutsford is the private post natal ward and it's directly off the main NHS postnatal ward. Even if you are a private patient your babies will be NHS patients meaning that if necessary they will have the same care as all other babies and the reassurance of a fantastic NHS special care unit. Mr Sheridan is an acquired taste, and a bit marmite but I found him fantastic. Your babies would be delivered by him privately with his midwife Sarah but on the NHS delivery suite and therefore have access to absolutely everything you would need if there was an emergency with the reassurance that your chosen obstetrician will be making all decisions for you and the guarantee of one to one midwife care from a midwife you will have got to know antenatally. He's massively experienced in delivering multiples, you and your babies will be in great hands.

I had a fantastic experience on the knutsford and with mr sheridan. Though it wasn't a multiple birth. PM me if you want.

I wish I'd stuck with Sheridan but my DH couldn't stand him. The person I chose instead was negligent IMO. Sheridan is very attentive, scans you every time and will see you for every niggle.

The beauty of the Knutsford Suite is that you have all the benefits of a private hospital with the full back up of the NHS and you actually give birth on the NHS labour ward. My twins were born at 33 weeks and had excellent treatment in NICU / SCBU.

My only complaint about the Knutsford Suite is that I was the only patient in there and there were no staff. On the night of my c-section when I was still paralysed I was left with the lights and TV on, couldn't reach the remote or the call button and no one checked on me for hours. I eventually had to call DH to call the hospital switchboard to send someone in to see me.
