Hi, I'm not sure I can help but didn't want to read and run.

So you're 31 weeks pregnant, you've been having contractions for 72 hours and basically you want the baby to be born as soon as possible?

EyeoftheStorm · 18/12/2013 12:54

I had a 5 and 3 year at home when DS2 was born at 31 weeks. He was big for his gestation and had bleeds on the brain which led to hydrocephalus and neurosurgery at 5 months. My older 2 lost more of my time and energy as we spent so long in NICU and hospital with him.

Not what you want to hear. I'm sorry you're having such a tough time. But if you can hold out even a few more weeks the outcome for your new baby will be so much better. Wishing you luck and strength.

Well suprise suprise im back at home. Still contracting every 5 mins now. I think this is stupid baby will come when its ready if I leave nature to take its corse I will go over they already said that cause I went over with the other two. Going to see consaltant at 34 weeks cause this is just tourture now.even she said I wont make 36 weeksband I believe it should be up to the parent if she wants to be induced after 37 weeks then they should allow it I know loads of ppl who have opted to have a c section instead of natual birth so why not opt to be induced.

You poor thing! Ive no advice at all but i feel for you! I darent say paracetamol, hot bath, im sure youve heard and tried it all for pain. How does this even happen i didnt even know you could contract for weeks! X

gussiegrips · 18/12/2013 19:54

I had this with the last baby - started at the same time, had steroids, grumbled along in misery, baby was eventually induced ten days OVER!

Rest helped (ha ha ha, I had 2 other kids too).

It's grim. But, there's not a lot you can do about it, and I'd be very surprised if anyone induced you early as it'd be a risk for your baby who is all comfy and cosy in there.

Is there anyone who can help you with the other two kids? Rest does help. And swearing. That helped too.

My DD was born at 31 weeks and had a brain bleed which caused cerebral palsy. Believe me that in the gran scheme of things, your DC missing out on time with you at home is small fry compared to how it will impact your family if you baby becomes disabled due to a premature birth.
I had irritable uterus and understand how difficult it is to basically be in labour for months. But I would still choose bedrest in hospital for months if necessary if I could have prevented my DD being permanently disabled for the rest of her life.

sarahj25 · 18/12/2013 20:08

Hey all thanos for ur comments and basicually my constaltant has already said she will induce me as its not the only thing wrong with me I also have hemi hypertrophy spd and strep b with the H/H I gotta be careful of my spine added pressure ect also with my structure lots of things that pose risk to me not baby so they have to look at everything by 9 weeks time I wont have any muscle left in my belly for it to contract I only have half of the muscle as it is due to h/h. Basicually im a walking disaster
