How was it for your third labour?????

Heard that they are tricky?

Fast . Went into labour at 6 pm and dd was born at 8:24 pm. No complications. Waters broke at 8:22 and that was that . I did have twins less than 2 years before so maybe I have stretched. She was the biggest if all of my 4 at 8lb 5oz but no stitches or tearing. No time for pain relief though so could have been better. Good luck.

So fast.
Labour one: 48 hours (17 hours in active labour)
Labour two: 12 hours (7 hours in active labour)
Labour 3: 55 minutes from first pain of any kind.

You don't want to know.....

Slow and long just to be different

Should have said that my second labour was my favourite. The third was quick but horrifically painful and I felt totally out of control. I shook for hours afterwards.

Another fast one.

85mins from the 1st twinge to the birth.

Stop, start, stop, start for days. V annoying. When it finally got going, it was all fairly straightforward, 7 hours or so.

Fast. Thirty mins from first twinge to baby. Delivered by dh at home while waiting for midwife and ambulance.

Another fast one - 4 contractions if the monitor/midwife is to be believed...

6 hours home birth and he was back to back. Hurt like a bitch tbh, the worst of my 3, but just had gas and air.

Home birth. Much faster than the first two. About 5 hours in total, but very quick second stage. He flew out so fast I didn't even need to push. Definitely my best birth. Haven't felt the need to do it again though!

Woke at 3am - got to hospital where the midwife spent time breaking it to me that 3rd labours were often a lot longer than 2nd ones for some reason, and it would be a while yet.
When she arrived at 6am, there was no midwife, no cot, or equipment, or anything ready - I don't think they were expecting her to arrive as quick as she did, but that's what babies do - try to catch you out and go against whatever you are expecting

Fast.
Second labour was textbook with every contraction getting gradually worse over a reasonable time.

Third just went from awkward to unbearable and baby was born very quickly. Officially recorded at 55 minutes. I felt a massive sense of achievement because I coped so well (MW had gone home just before active labour started and SHE HAD THE ENTONOX MOUTHPIECE) but it's put me off another.

Oh but the pushing was the best. I actually shouted "oh that's it, that's great" as I pushed her out!!!

Did you have different warning signs? With dd1 I had just backache, then contractions then more intense ones. Waters were the last thing to go. 4hrs ish

Dd2 waters broke in bed. Immediate contractions 5mins apart. Got to hospital and on bed few pushes then out. So no warning as such. She was an unknown back to back too but I felt I dealt with it easier. More in control too

I'm just worried about the amount of time of warning... So I'm preparing for home birth and MLU (if I have enough time)

Boxofbugs, your experience is what I'm afraid of, in terms of speed anyway!

First labour - 16 hours with under 4 in active labour
Second labour - 2.5 hours from start to finish, literally from first twinge

Third time? I have Strep B and have been told I must deliver in the consultant-led unit which is an hour away... They blithely say, Oh well, half the time we don't have time to give the IV antibiotics anyway. So I get to probably deliver in a layby for nothing.

Waaaa!

Fast! Went into hospital for check as my waters had broken hours before. Very mild pain until I was examined. Was 4cm dilated. Went for a walk around hospital... Ended up racing back to labour suite after about 10 minutes. Baby arrived about an hour after that

1st latent labour 2 weeks active labour 10 hrs
2nd latent labour 2 weeks active labour 3 hrs
3rd first pain to baby 3hrs 10 minutes!

Much easier than the others. Good luck

Oh crap. Thanks for asking this question littleray as I'm due with my 3rd in 4 days. My first was 5 hours active labour, second was 2 1/2 hours active and I didn't make it to hospital in time, this one...I'm so worried I won't get there in time but don't really want a home birth!

When are you due?

Quickest overall (6 3/4 hours from first contraction to baby out) but first assisted delivery (ventouse) due to his massive head and my exhaustion after several nights of weak contractions for an hour in the middle of the night, constant toilet visits and two other children to look after.

If I ignore the last 15 minutes it was by far the best of the three.

I'm worried about this.
1st labour 7 hours.
2nd 2 hours from first contraction, got to hospital with 10 min to spare, couldn't have syntometrine because they hadn't completed their checks and ended up with massive PPH.

I'm now "high risk" and supposed to deliver in consultant unit (prev 2 in MLU) and have an I/v in place, consultant really didn't listen when I said on past experience there wouldn't be time for any of that. Depending on traffic it can easily take an hour to get to the hospital. Spoke to MW about it and she said if you think it will be fast dial 999, but the ambulance crews aren't allowed to give syntometrine....

Sounds like we are in a similar boat, Bakingtins –I have asked to be induced. But they don't get many requests for that! Think I'll feel better once I've spoken the consultant about options – have spoken to midwives but they say their hands are a bit tied re protocol.

First one was 4 hours
second 45 mins
Third 7 hrs and most painful by far.

Not sure if theres an exact science to it!

Is that an option calamityjane ? Would be much happier knowing I was all sorted for childcare and already near the bells and whistles should they be needed.
I did get some warning last time because I had a "labourish" sort of day previously with some mild contractions, but once it started in earnest it was all a bit quick!
