Coming down with a cold - a sign of imminent labour, or just bad luck?

I know I'm clutching at straws but I'm 40+5 today and would obviously prefer it to be the former.... Pleeeease.... Anyone got any positive stories to share?! Or do I need to get a grip?!

At 40+5 you most certainly do not need to get a grip. Being overdue is a really rotten business. I can't say whether or not a cold is a sign of labour coming on soon or not. But either way you really won't be pregnant too much longer. Maybe your immune system is compromised because your body is too busy getting prepared for labour?

Either way try to get some rest if you can, colds are can be so tiring and you'll be needing all your energy soon! Good luck, I hope you're cuddling a lovely new baby really soon.

Aw, thanks cuppa. I'm feeling a bit better this morning, but yes - plenty of rest sounds like a good idea.
I was wondering if having a cold would inhibit labour so did some googling and came across stories of it being the start of things. Got all excited, but yes - weakened immunity sounds like the sensible explanation.
Really not long to go now, just trying to focus on relaxing and gentle excitement - can't quite believe I'll be meeting my baby soon!
