Muscas Plug to Labour

LittlePeaPod · 11/12/2013 17:36

Just noticed a small snotty/jelly looking bit at the loo. Called MW and she thinks it could be my mucas plug starting to come out. She says it could all come out at once or slowly over a couple of weeks.

I am 37 weeks and hoping to keep baby cooking till 39 weeks when I am booked for a CS.

Jut wondering how long did it take you to go into labour once you started losing your mucas plug?

Thanks LPP

I lost a big (clear) blob around 36 or 37 weeks but DS wasn't born until 40 + 11.

Probably about 5 days for me. Is it bloody? I think that is more likely to mean labour is close.

Thanks for your reply. No it wasn't bloody. More funny colour and not a big blob. More a little-ish blob...

Sorry for multi-reply. Bad phone!

No need for apologise. My phone does the same sometimes. Grin. Thank you for the reply.

It was still weeks for me so don't panic!

AddictedtoGreys · 11/12/2013 20:04

my mucous plug came out about 12 hours before my first contraction, and I was 38+2 when it started with my first baby Smile

KangKorandKoloth · 11/12/2013 20:14

Both times on the same day I went into labour, with ds2 at about the same time as my waters broke (they broke hours before I had any contractions)

Imnotaslimjim · 11/12/2013 20:35

for me I started losing the plug in little bits on Tuesday Morning. Finally delivered Friday morning, with a large blob of bloody mucus just 20 mins before he arrived! probably not what you want to hear

urtwistingmymelonman · 15/12/2013 17:44

within 24 hours with my first and three days later with my second.

I started loosing mucous plug about 3 weeks before dd was born so have your bag packed but it could still be a while

ZingChoirsOfAngels · 15/12/2013 18:02

DS1 - 3 days, waters also broke but no contractions so had to be induced

DS2 - I was induced so N/A

DS3 - had sweep 11am on the Friday, plug appeared 2am on Saturday, he was born just after 6am Sunday

DS4 - ELSC due to footling breech so N/A

DS5 - sweep at 10 am, plug came out in a few hours, he was born just before 10pm that day

DD - waters broke at 4pm, she was born within 13 hours.
can't remember the plug at all.

#7 - I might report back in July! Grin

I asked the same question on Mumsnet when pregnant with DC1 - lost my mucous plug around 5pm (at 37+4) and because all the answers were that labour could still be hours/days/weeks away, I went off to the supermarket. Got home just in time for waters to break spectacularly at 6:50pm. Baby born at 9:50pm! This time round I will be taking the loss of my plug a bit more seriously!

QuietNinjaTardis · 15/12/2013 21:06

With ds lost my plug on the thurs, went into labour on fri eve. With dd started to lose my plug on thurs morning, irregular contractions all day, established labour thurs eve and had her 4am fri morning. Ds was 3 days early and dd 3 days late.

Didn't notice with dc 1, but with dc2 was 11ish in the morning, in ikea in the loos!! Then (was with fam) they drove me home and I felt every bump on the road! Mild contractions started around 2ish and then by 7 was in hosp 7cm dilated and dc born a couple hours after arrival at hosp, in pool. But that being said it doesn't always mean labour is imminent from what I've read/heard from others!
