Cheap shower curtains to lay on the floor
Old blankets/sheets/cushions
Pampers bed mats (the kind you get when toilet training) to throw around under you if you move about
Hospital bag for you and baby just in case
Box of baby stuff close by (nappies, clothes, hat etc) so it's all at hand when lo arrives! Plus a change of clothes for you, pads, pants etc. the last thing you want is to be shouting instructions to your partner to find them once you're all done!
Champagne in the fridge
Cupboard full of snacks for during and after (dh was responsible for tea, coffee and bacon for the midwives - kept him busy!)
Torch/lamp for mw to use in case of stitching.

I found I really didn't need much more than this. It was a wonderful experience - good luck!

There's a really good thread in pregnancy now about what you'll need for hb - sorry I can't figure out how to link on my phone!

We're planning a home birth too and planning on getting a birth pool (not sure which type yet but I am hoping for one of the hard sided ones with a heater and filter). Along with lots if towels and shower curtains etc we also want to make the room really ambient as we've done hypnobirthing - so some nice fairy lights and aromatherapy and battery operated tea lights etc just to keep it quiet and calming.

I'd really advise doing something like hypnobirthing too as it seems to really help prepare you for a home birth.
