Anyone else had gestational diabetes and not had an induction, I'm not measuring big and mainly diet controlled still confused as to why I need inducing? Anyone been left to go into labour naturally?

I refused induction as baby was normal size and I didn't have to change my diet at all to control sugars. I had to really fight for it though. As it happened I went into labour at 39 weeks and ds was only 6lb 4.5oz.

I had GD with both pregnancies. Was induced both times. First time at 41 weeks as midwife persuaded the dr to let me go one week over as I had such a small bump. The second time was a different hosp where they don't have a policy of automatically inducing anyone with GD. I was diet controlled so they let me go overdue. But then I had to be induced anyway after 13 days over as no labour signs whatsoever!

I was diet controlled, with waters and baby all fine at 36 week scan. I was 'returned to the low risk population' and had a home birth at 40+3. I would have been subject to the hospital's general induction policy if labour hadn't begun naturally.

Remember, no one can make you do anything. Have you offered to have a scan to see how things look? Have increased monitoring?
