Old towels?
Hot water bottle or soothing bag you can heat up in microwave?
Comfy easy to peel off clothes/nightie?

I didn't have home births myself but I imagine you might want to tip off the neighbours if they're in hearing distance.

Good luck!

Oh ignore me I misread Mw for 'my'! Xmas Blush.

I think it depends on the area but mine had:

Large absorbent pads
Suture kit
Gloves
Resus thingy
Gas canister
Medical type stuff that was never used really

ChutesTooNarrow · 03/12/2013 09:52

I didn't delve around in mine as it was sealed but I know it contained needles and the kit for stitches. Also cord cutting stuff I think. Mine was late getting to me but I was assured it wasn't completely necessary to give birth with if it wasn't there in time - and I did give birth before it was opened!

Btw I could have given birth with my windows wide open and not disturbed the neighbours Grin

Loads of stuff! I've got one sitting in the dining room right now. It has an inventory, I can send it you if you're interested?

At present I'm amusing myself trying to decide which is my favourite item. It's a tough call between Placenta Bag and Delivery Goggles.

MrsJK · 03/12/2013 21:52

Googles ?? Grin

Loads of shit. I never looked through it properly. Suture kit, gloves, those cardboard bowls that they use for vomit and the kidney shaped ones they use for instruments. Millions of bits of gauze and the like.

Pascha · 03/12/2013 21:53

Dunno. They brought it all with them when I was in labour. Rubber gloves and suture kit probably.

Great!

mumoftwoboysS · 13/12/2013 20:18

just wondering were you given this - the ones who've mentioned you've got one?? I spoke to my mw about this (as I didnt' get to the hospital in time last time) and she looked at me like I was mad and said they don't hand them out!

puntasticusername · 13/12/2013 22:49

From what I gather, different regions do it differently. Some bring the box round a week or two in advance, whereas in others the midwives bring it all with them on the day.

I've even got the drugs in my fridge atm, which feels kind of weird...
