So I was planning a home birth with DC2, due in 3 weeks. I have just found out i have strep b, so will need iv antibiotics before (and probably during) labour.

I'm trying not to worry too much about the risks involved, and am happy to take the antibiotics. My home birth midwife tells me the home birth team can't administer the antibiotics and is b
was induced with DC1 due to leaking waters - which was fine, and my priority is obviously

Sorry, posted too soon - the above is a garbled mess. Meant to say I'll be meeting with a consultant next week to discuss my options. Does anyone have any advice? Questions I should ask? Do you know of how the antibiotics could be administered at home?
I would be happy to go to hospital if necessay, but would like to explore other options if possible. Maybe the birth centre would be an option if homebirth isn't?

TIA

Hi, the homebirth website is good on this.. Can't link now as on my phone.

Some women have their antibiotics at hospital and then go home for the birth which might work for you as a proposal for the consultant. Also try talking to the supervisor of midwives at your hospital, ours has been very helpful. Do be aware though that even if you get your homebirth they will want you to go in afterwards with baby for observation.

I had group b in my last pregnancy and had him in hospital, but a waterbirth and that was great. This time (39 weeks) I have had to fight for a homebirth even though I have tested negative and they still want me to take baby in afterwards for observation although I can take her to the MLU in the hospital rather than the main labour ward.
