Coccyx pain after childbirth? Anyone?

I had my ds 17 weeks ago... I had no real coccyx pain during the actual birth, but 17 weeks later I still have pains, not constant not everyday but when I sit on hard chairs or drive for long journeys or sit or lay in certain positions. It doesn't hurt enough for pain relief, I have been to the doctors and they said there wasn't a lot they could do about it and said did I think I had fractured it? (I thought 'well that's why ive come to see you as I don't know!!') just wondering if anyone else has suffered from a sore coccyx?

Yup! Mine was sore throughout pregnancy, and now, 18 months after birth, it's still sore! Pretty sure I bruised or fractured it somehow during pregnancy. Was told there is not much they can do about it.

It is rubbish, but I always think, at least it didn't break! (Like my mums when she was in labour with my sibling!)

Yup me. I had to sit on a special cushion for 6 months, after that I could manage without it, the pain probably went after about 10 months. I still get twinges if I sit leaning back on a hard chair for too long (17m now).
The dr is right there is nothing they can do, although my physio said she could put her fingers up my fanjo and manipulate it from the inside. I declined, unsurprisingly.
It will get better on its own but it's a long haul. Google coccyx cushion, spend twenty quid and get yourself comfortable while you're waiting for it to heal.

I did! Had a very long second stage so all 9lbs 11oz of DS was sitting on my coccyx. The recovery was far more painful than stitches!

DS is now 2yrs 8 months and I still use a coccyx cushion at work and am due to have DS2 in a month!

I did... It probably lasted for around 4 weeks. Doc said the same thing to me, pretty hopeless really. I took painkillers and anti inflammation at hospital request

I did after first birth too. Can't remember how long it lasted but certainly months after rather than weeks, maybe even more like a year. Your post has made me realise tho that I haven't had any probs after second birth. But then I also sit on fewer hard chairs.

Anyway, not much help I know but my guess is that it will go away naturally with time...

I fractured mine falling off a horse 15 years ago and had discomfort for about 3 years afterwards.

Yes I injured mine giving birth and was in a lot of pain for months. Eventually was advised to see cranial sacral therapist who specialised in maternal care. She said she'd have me better in 6 weeks - and in fact it only took 4. What a relief. I was actually quite depressed and miserable during my baby's first year because of the pain I was in.

I did try painkillers, osteopathy and a chiropractor to no avail, the cst on the other hand worked like magic. And whenever the pain flared up again (after long spell sitting or carrying baby) I could go back for a top up session
